Residential trailer fire Colonial Estates
Early Thursday morning February 10, 2022 at approximately 12:50 a.m. the Sussex County EOC alerted the Dagsboro, Millsboro, and Frankford Fire Departments for a reported structure fire in the 29000 block of Colonial Estates. Upon the arrival of Sussex County paramedics there was found to be fire showing from the rear of a single wide mobile home. Shortly after dispatch, Command 73-8 with Fire Chief J.Marvel along with Engine Tanker 73-3 under the direction of Deputy Chief S.Furbush responded simultaneously. Upon their arrival Fire Chief Marvel assumed command, while the crew from E/T73-3 advanced an 1¾ hose line into the structure for fire attack and primary searches of the residence. Once the remainder of the Dagsboro, Frankford, and Millsboro apparatus arrived on scene their crews assisted with advancing a secondary attack line to the exterior of the residence for fire suppression assistance and then began overhaul efforts. Thankfully no one was home at the time of the incident and all searches proved negative. Once the fire was fully extinguished the scene was then turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshall's Office for their investigation.
The officers and members of the DVFD would like to thank our neighboring departments for their assistance in bringing this incident under control without incident.
