Vehicle Explosion w/ Fly Out - Vines Creek Rd a/o Uncle Willies
Monday, June 8, 2015
At Approx. 12:30 the DVFD, Frankford EMS, Medic 105, EMS 100 & DSP Trooper II were alerted for a MVC at the given location. Moments after dispatch EMS 100 arrived & advised a vehicle was fully involved with a priority 1 burn patient, requesting EMS to expedite. EOC upgraded the call. Engine/Tanker 73 responded (Capt. Marvel & crew of 4) as Asst. Chief Donaway arrived POV & established the Vines Creek Rd IC confirming the report. Vines Creek Rd was closed to all traffic as it became apparent there was a 100 lbs. propane cylinder in the vehicle. IC also realized this was not an MVC, but an explosion while the vehicle was in motion. Engine/tanker 73 arrived & pulled their front bumper line w/ foam & quickly knocked the fire. Rescue Co. 73 (Lt. McGee & crew of 6) had its crew assist with suppression & overhaul. Engine 732 (Lt. Betts & crew of 5) prepared to supply the Engine/Tanker if needed. The lone male patient was assessed by EMS & DFI protocol was successful. The patient was loaded into Trooper II & transported to Chester/Crozer Burn Center where he is listed in critical, but stable condition.
