Monday, June 8, 2015
While the heart of Tropical Depression Ernesto roared through the area the DVFD was alerted for a vehicle submersion with rescue. Rescue Co, 73 responded with in minutes of the dispatch with a crew of (5) five under the command of Captain Blades. The initial report was a single vehicle in high water with a mother & her infant still inside. Crews arrived to find the vehicle partially submerged in approx. 2 feet of water with the passenger side in a drainage ditch. The occupants had been rescue by an Officer from the FVFC prior to the arrival of DVFD units. Captain Blades established the IC. Brush 73 w/ Marine 73 & Engine 732 were advised to reduce their rate while Amb. B-73 assessed the patients. On a lighter note while operating a local muskrat whose home had been severely flooded tried to hitch a ride on the Rescue Co. to higher ground & took advantage of the exhaust to dry himself and warm up.
