After the tragedy on Sept. 11, 2001 The Dagsboro VFC sent 1 EMS unit and a 3 member crew to aid of New York City on Sept. 11. In the wake of the attack the Delaware Emergency Management Agency put a call out to all volunteer fire departments in the state in a hope to assemble an EMS Task Force. They had hopes of getting a response of 15-20 units, but were amazed when in only 2 hours after putting out the call they had a total of 52 EMS units & 186 crew members. However when the task force arrived at a staging area at the Meadow Lands, they were informed that after going to the site there were no victims to be helped, but that they could be called back if needed. This goes to show that when it comes to volunteer fire service in the state of Delaware we are always ready to answer the call for help no matter what the challenge or distance. A special thank you should go to the following crew members who were enroute on only 1 hrs. notice; Firefighter/Rescue Technician- Chad Hudson, EMS Lieutenant- Diane Carey and Firefighter/NREMT-B- Jill Brittingham.
