At 1427 hrs. the Sussex EOC alerted the Dagsboro & Millsboro VFD's on a box assignment for a reported House fire #20 Power Plant Rd. in the Diamond Ares sub-division. Engine 731 responded at 1428 hrs. under the command of Asst. Chief McCabe, and advised a neighbor had reported a light smoke condition coming from the residence and believed no one to be home. Engine 731 arrived on location and command was established by Asst. Chief McCabe. Command reported a 1 & 1/2 story home with hvy. smoke and fire showing from the rear. Engine 731 placed a 1" 3/4 attach line in operation and began fire suppression. Engine 831 arrived and assigned to support the crew of Engine 731 with interior operations and conduct a primary search. With the arrival of Engine 732, Rescue Co. 73 & 83 crews were assigned to ventilation, overhaul & salvage. Tanker Co. 73 & 83 were staged & set up for water supply if needed. Crews from Rescue Co. 73 & 83 deployed Thermal Imaging Cameras to check for extension & PPV fans to assist in smoke removal. Command placed the incident under control, with units working at 1438 hrs. Delaware State FMO was investigating the blaze. Units cleared and were avail. at 1533 hrs.
