House Fire - 215 Berry St. - Frankford

Monday, June 8, 2015
On Monday, 06 May 02, at 0807 hrs. the Dagsboro VFD was alerted on a box assignment with the Frankford VFD along with SCEMS Medic 105 for a reported house fire at 215 Berry St. At 0812 hrs. Engine 731 was responding under the command of 3rd Asst. Chief McCabe and advised that a Frankford Firefighter was on location reporting hvy. smoke showing from the attic area of a house with an attached mobile home that also had an addition. Engine 761 arrived on location and FVFD Chief Robby Murray established command while the crew stretched an 1" 3/4 attack line through the front door of the structure to gain access to the attic. Next in was Rescue/Engine 763 with an assignment to support the interior crew with a primary search. Engine 731 arrived at 0817 hrs. and was assigned to ladder the roof and deploy a second 1" 3/4 attack line to the roof area. Rescue Co. 73 arrived and tasked to support the with ventilation and roof operations. Upon making the first ventilation hole, roof crews noticed that the trailer roof was still intact and a second cut would have to be made to gain access to the attic space to check for extension. The second roof cut provided access to the attic area and it was noticed that the fire was contained to the area around a stove pipe that vented into the space between the two roofs. After a thorough check for extension with a thermal imaging camera the situation was placed under control holding units. Final Dagsboro units cleared the scene at 0900 hrs. and were placed avail in quarters at 0910 hrs. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating the blaze.
