Search for victim of MVC - Main St. & Vines Creek Rd.

After 5 days of looking for the MVC patient that had fled from a Head-on MVC at 306 Main St. on 28 April 02. Dagsboro PD made the decision to initiate a search for the victim after his family and friends had not heard from him since that night. A small area search was conducted the night of the incident but had to be called of as Severe Thunderstorms roared through the area. At 1610 hrs. DPD made a request for assistance to help in a search of a wooded area for the subject in fears he had succumb to his wounds. Rescue Co. 73 marked on the air under the command of Asst. Chief McCabe & was advised on the nature of the search. Upon arrival of Rescue Co. 73 command was established by Asst. Chief McCabe with the command post set-up in the parking lot of 306 Main St. After a brief meeting with DPD Chief Dudley it was determined that an area of approx. 25 acres of dense woods and brush needed to be search. At 1622 hrs. command made a call for manpower out of Frankford VFD to assist. A staging area was set-up in the parking lot at the intersection of Main St. & Vines Creek Rd. and a manpower pool established in the parking lot of 306 Main St. After the search was initiated it was determined the additional manpower was need to how dense and large of a search area was becoming. At 1633 hrs. command made an additional call for manpower out of the Millsboro & Millville VFD's to assist. After the arrival of Rescue Co. 84, Utility 84, Engine 832, Utility 8312 & numerous other rescue personnel by POV it was determined sufficient personnel was on scene to conduct the search. After 3 hrs. of searching and no discovery of the subject it the search was called off. All units were placed in service and avail. at 1832 hrs. It was found out 1 hr. after units were in station that DSP & DPD had again interrogated the subjects family and found out he was picked up by friends the night of the MVC and transported by unknown means across the boarder back to Mexico were he remains hospitalized with head and chest trauma.
