On Thursday September 11, 2003 the Sussex county Council & Sussex County Emergency Services honored the volunteers of the Delaware EMS Taskforce that responded to New York City on September 11, 2001 after the attack on the World Trade Center. Those honored in the ceremony were FF Chad Hudson, FF/EMT-B Diane Carey, & FF/EMT-B Jill Brittingham. All tree were honored with a certificated of decree from the Sussex County Council. The ceremony also honored several volunteer firefighters from Sussex County that had recently returned from active duty in various branches of the Armed Services. Numerous fire companies had apparatus on display along with law enforcement agencies.
