Driver flees MVC, leaving 2 children at scene - DuPont Blvd. N/B @ Clayton St.

On Saturday, 17 January 2004, at 17:25 the Dagsboro VFD along with Frankford VFD EMS were alerted to a MVC at the intersection of Dupont Blvd. N/B & Clayton St. Engine 732 was on route under the command of Asst. Chief Furbush at 17:29 & given the report of a (2) two vehicle MVC, with poss. (3) three patients. Engine 732 arrived at 17:29 and Asst. Chief Furbush est. IC, to find as reported with (2) juvenile patients and (1) adult female. Clayton St. was completely closed along with the # 2 lane of Dupont Blvd. It was soon learned that the father of the (2) juvenile patients had fled the seen on foot leaving his children in the roadway. Amb. B-76 arrived and started patient care along with several DVFD members who had arrived via POV. Next in was Rescue Co. 73 under the command of Asst. Chief Stevens, & was tasked with securing the hazards on both vehicles and assisting arriving Amb. A-73 with patient care on the adult female. Rescue 73 also setup scene lighting, while an additional crew members used the TIC (thermal imaging camera) to try and locate the driver which fled on foot towards a wooded area. All patients on scene were transported to AGH, and the incident placed under control by IC at 17:50, holding units. DSP completed their investigation and all DVFD units were placed available and Clayton St. was reopened at 18:18.
