Agricultural Rescue - Gum Tree Rd. s/o Quial Run

On Thursday 05 February 2004, at 21:03 the Dagsboro VFD, SCEMS Medic 103, EMS 40, Trooper II were alerted for an Agricultural rescue on Gum Tree Rd. s/o Nine Foot Rd. Rescue Co. 73 & Brush 730 were on the street at 21:05 and advised they had a male subject trapped in the farm implement approx. 3/4 mile of the paved road in a field. First to arrive was Deputy Chief McCabe and confirmed the report and established IC. Rescue Co. 73 & Brush 730 staged on the paved road and gather tools then started back to the scene. The patient was pinned between the cab roll cage & the (3) point hitch. First arriving crews stabilized the tractor and implement, a ditch bank mower. At this time command was transferred to Asst. Chief Stevens while crews utilized (3) Hurst units comprising of O-cutters, Rams & Combination tools, also saw-zall's, and a large amount of cribbing. The Frankford VFC was dispatched to assist in scene lighting & electric & the Gumboro VFC was requested for their Holmatro unit. Equipment was transported the 3/4 of a mile to scene by several 4x4 pick-ups. Extrication was complete at 22:09 after crews cut the roll cage and used rams to lift the roll cage and make room to remove the patients arm. After the patient was extricated he was turned over to medical crews as a priority 1 trauma and flown to PRMC. IC Placed the incident under control at 22:15 & units were ready for service at 23:09.
