Box Assignment for House Fire in Dagsboro Local - Vines Creek Rd.

A box assignment was struck on Friday, 07 February at 09:85 for a reported house fire on DE 26 in the area of DE 17 Both the Dagsboro & Millville fire companies were alerted along with SCEMS Medic 105. At 09:59 Engine 731 under the command of Asst. Chief Furbush marked on the air and was advised the incident location was DE 26 w/o DE 17 placing it in Millville's first due area. At this time Engine 842 & Truck 84 were also responding and advised the same information. At 10:08 Deputy Chief Droney (Millville) found the incident on Vines Creek Rd. e/o Vines Creek Bridge approx. 7 miles w/o the reported location. With this information Engine 731 turned around and responded back to the location behind Engine 842. Deputy Droney est. IC with nothing evident on sides 1, 2, & 4 with the crew from Engine 842 investigating. Engine 731 arrived and were ordered to deploy a 1 3/4" attack line as the crew from Engine 842 had found a light smoke condition and active fire behind the fireplace. Truck 84 arrived on scene and was ordered to the roof for operations. Engine 732 & 841 arrived and crews sent to the manpower pool. Rescue Co. 73 arrived and was set-up for rehab. and to support the truck company. Both tanker 73 & 84 were staged along with Rescue Co. 84. Upon further investigation and removal of the fireplace insert crews found a small fire in the wall with minor extension into the attic area, mainly smoke. The truck company used dry chemical chimney bags to extinguish the fir in the chimney while the interior crews extinguished the fire with in the wall. Command placed the incident under control units working at 10:38 releasing all staged units. Crews conducted salvage and overhaul operations & were released and ready for service at 10:50 with command terminated.
