Box struck for Gumboro Barn Fire - Revel Rd. n/o Nine Foot Rd.

On Friday, 29 March 2003 at 22:07 the Sussex EOC alerted the Gumboro (79), Dagsboro (73), & Frankford (76) VFC's along with SCEMS Medic 103 for a reported Barn fire at the intersection of Nine Foot Rd. & Revel Rd. At the time the call was dispatched all (3) three of the companies along with the Millsboro & Millville VFC's were at Dagsboro's station involved in the annual Pool Tournament. Engine 731 & 732 both checked on the air at 22:09. Engine 731 under the command of Deputy 73, T. McCabe & Engine 732 under the command of Chief 73, T. Glenn and were advised this was believed to be a working alarm as EOC was receiving several calls. Chief 79 marked on the air and was advised the same. At 22:19 Chief 79, Engine 731, Engine 732, Engine 761 all arrived on location to find a 25 X 25 barn well involved and on the ground. Engine 731 laid 200' of 5" LDH & deployed (2) two 1 3/4" attack lines, and the crew of Engine 732 was sent with tools to support them. Next in Engine 794 was staged and its crew sent to the manpower pool. Rescue Co. 73 arrived at 22:21 and was placed in service for rehab. and scene lighting, while its crew was also placed in the manpower pool. Engine 761 was reassigned to a cover assignment at Dagsboro and Rescue/Engine 763 & Engine 766 were placed available. Tanker 73 arrived at 22:22 and picked up the 5" supply line to Engine 731 & Engine 732. The following units were placed in staging as they arrived, Engine 791, Engine 736, Tanker 79, Rescue 79, Utility 73 & Utility 79. Chief 79 placed the situation under control with units working at 22:35. After extensive overhaul units were placed in service & available at 23:24. The Delaware State FMO is investigating the blaze, no injuries were incurred.
