MVC w/ Rescue upgraded to a Level 1 MCI - Armory Rd. a/o Indian River High School

On Saturday, 07 June at 23:16 a local assignment was transmitted to the Dagsboro VFC, Frankford VFC EMS, & SCEMS Medic 105 for a reported MVC with rescue & wires down on the vehicle on Armory Rd. (DE 20) e/o the Dagsboro Armory. First to respond was Amb. A-73 at 23:18 with Captain Townsend aboard. A-73 was advised an EMT on scene advised a single vehicle MVC car into a tree with multiple patients and wires down on the vehicle & due to weather no aviation was available. Engine 732 under the command of Deputy Chief T. McCabe marked on the air at 23:20 and was advised the same. Ambulance A-73 arrived to find a ford mustang into a tree with heavy damage to the right front passenger compartment. After a quick size up Capt. Townsend declared a level (1) one MCI & advised he had 4 priority 1 traumas & one priority 2. Sussex EOC immediately filled the assignment alerting Millville, Frankford, & Roxana EMS for (1) one BLS unit each to assist as well as SCEMS Medic 103 & EMS 100. Engine 732 arrived at 23:23 and Deputy McCabe established IC. By this time Rescue Co. 73 was on the street under the command of Chief 73, T. Glenn. IC advised there was no rescue as all patients had removed themselves from the vehicle. Career FF/EMT-B Lloyd began triage as the crew of the arriving Amb. B-73 began patient care in the most severely injured patient. Rescue Co. 73 arrived and it crew was assigned to assist with patient care as well as to set-up to provide scene lighting. Command advised all fire police to shut down both east & west bound traffic on Amory Rd. Medic 105 arrived and confirmed a level (1) one MCI and also advised the had (3) three priority 1 traumas & 2 priority 1's due to mechanism. Paramedic H. Cox assumed EMS command and triage, she also advised incoming ALS that patient (1) one with a possible closed head injury and trauma to various extremities and was leaving the scene with her partner aboard, patient (2) two head a severe head injury with a visible skull fracture along with chest trauma, patient (3) was suffering from obvious internal injuries and a possible punctured lung, patients (4&5) four & five were suffering from obvious limb fractures, along with numerous lacerations. At 23:40 all patients had been packaged and were enroute to various area hospitals. IC placed the scene under control at 23:52 holding all units to assist DSP F.A.I.R. Team with scene lighting & requested DOT as trees were down in the roadway. At 00:21 command made all units available for service with the exception of fire police, turning the scene over to DSP for investigation & DOT for debris removal.
