MVC - Vehicle into the Structure - Vines Creek Rd.

At 14:45 on Wednesday, Oct. 14 2003 the Dagsboro VFC along with the Frankford VFC EMS, SCEMS Medic 105, EMS 100 & DSP Trooper II were alerted to a MVC on Vines Creek Rd. in the area of Gull's Way Campground. First to arrive was Sussex County EMS Supervisor EMS 100, and advised she had a single vehicle into a structure with heavy front-end damage with a single occupant still inside. Engine 732 marked on the air at 14:50 under the command of Asst. Chief D. Stevens with a crew of (7) seven and was advise of the updated information. Amb. A-73 arrived and began patient care and advised they had a priority 2 female patient. Engine 732 arrived at 14:55 and Asst. Chief D. Stevens established IC, and ordered the crew to deploy a 13/4" line to cover the crews working in the vehicle. Rescue Co. 73 arrived at 14:58 and was assigned to assist with patient removal and also to begin stabilization of the residence. It was also learned upon arriving the the residence involved was DVFC firefighter J. Mears home. IC advised aviation to cancels but have ground ALS continue per EMS on scene. Upon removal of the patient crews began stabilization efforts to the residence as well as measures to protect it from the weather. IC placed the incident under control at 15:09 with units working. Final units cleared at 16:04, DSP has the collision under investigation.
