DVFD Says Thank You - DVFD
Monday, June 8, 2015
For the last 10 months there has been a not so familiar face in the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department fleet. While Dagsboro's own 1st due Engine 731 was getting a total face lift, the old Engine 844 from the Millville VFD had been taking its place. Engine 731 was sent to Interstate in Hagerstown, MD. The refurbishing ranged from the addition of a generator & cord reels, an extended front bumper with a 1 3/4" trash line, 4 new compartments, & a complete rewiring of the electrical system with new warning lights. During this time, Engine 732 was moved from 2nd due to 1st due and the old Engine 844 was placed in service as Engine 731. In the 10 month span, Engine 844 ran 38 calls, 9 of which were home to Millville. Engine 731 returned to service in early September, at which time Engine 844 was re-designated as Engine 73 while Engine 732 was sent out for AC installation. With the return of Engine 732 it is time for the members of the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Dept. to say farewell to Engine 844 as it will be donated by the Millville VFD to the Fairmount VFD, in Somerset County MD. The membership & officers of the Dagsboro VFD thanks the Millville VFD for the use of Engine 844 during this time. It is dedication to service such as this that keeps the volunteer fire service alive in Delaware.
