At approximately 1754 hours the Sussex County EOC dispatched the Dagsboro VFD for a reported vehicle fire at the NRG Power Plant. Shortly after dispatch Lieutenant B.McGee, due to being in the area, responded to the scene and was given the initial report of a dump truck construction vehicle on fire. Upon his arrival Lt.Mcgee established command confirming the vehicle's engine compartment and cab to be fully involved. Engine/Tanker 73 responded under the direction of Deputy Chief J.Marvel with a total staffing of six, upon their arrival the crew deployed an 1¾ foam attack line and began fire suppression efforts. Upon the arrival of Quint 73, under the direction of Fire Chief D.Betts with a staffing of five, it's crew assisted with the fire suppression efforts along with deploying a ground ladder to the rear dump body of the vehicle to check for any extension of the contents of the vehicle. Units operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes to bring the incident under control.
