On Thursday August 9 around 1:19pm DVFD and Sussex County EMS were alerted for a Vehicle Accidnet on Vines Creek Rd. in the area of Gate Of Heaven Cemetery. Engine 73-2 shortly responded with the Deputy (Glenn) and a crew of 4, and then 73 Command went responding with 73-20 (G.Betts). Sussex EOC advised both units that a vehicle ran off the road and struck a utility pole with the pole snapped and wires down on the vehicle and that Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 2 was making a response. Engine 2 arrived on scene and confirmed the report and Deputy assumed 73 command. Units assisted EMS with loading the patient and B-73 transported to a local hospital and DT2 was put available. Units cleared and the scene was turned over to DSP, the power company, and DelDOT.
